Daily Living Life Skills

The Daily Living / Life Skills service supports people with a disability or illness to develop and maintain the skills needed to live their daily lives. This includes day-to-day activities such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, shopping and managing money. If you have a disability or illness that affects your ability to manage these tasks, this service can help you learn how to take care of yourself.

When you first start using the NDIS, it’s important that you tell us what support you need. We’ll work with you to understand what changes you want in your life and how we can help make them happen. This might mean attending an appointment with an NDIS planner who will discuss your goals and needs with you.

Then we’ll work out how much support you need. This could be a single appointment or ongoing support from our team of advisors at home or in the community over time. It might also include other services like transport or equipment such as wheelchairs or hearing aids for daily tasks such as driving or hearing from others around us in public places like cafes, restaurants and shops.

The Daily Living / Life Skills program includes:

  • Assistance with daily tasks like cooking and cleaning, laundry, shopping, and making doctor’s appointments
  • Hands-on training in personal care, such as bathing, dressing, grooming and using the bathroom
  • Help with financial planning and budgeting
  • Training in community integration activities, such as going out for dinner or taking public transportation
